we sent each other our films, changed something of the film we received
sent that back to be changed again, etc, back and forth
until we were satisfied with the results

moskeizer 04 - soprano
i changed my mind and decided not to draw an animation on top of 'moskeizer 03' today when there was a concert of a soprano singing in the vondelpark today - it fits our original way of working, making use of coincidence and our intuition
so here she is:

some more witness from Moscow to the "cadavre exquis"
Moskeizer 01 - Rain.
Anna is on the roof, when the rain starts, dripping first, then a downpour. In Amsterdam pouring it, though.
Moskeizer 02 - Birds.
Maartje get this movie. Bad sleep that night. The cat comes to two
time in the bedroom with a captured mouse to play, son Oscar is
awake and wants to Mom and Dad in the big bed at half past four and begin
the birds with a morning concert. But then she decides to stand up to
the sound of the birds to take.
It uses them the next day the rain movie. She turns to the movie:
The downpour stops and ends in drips and birdsong.
Moskeizer 03 - Baby Foot
On the day Anna received the film, there is a party on the roof. She sees two of her frieds playing table soccer at exactely the same place where she had filmed the rain. She mixes these two videos, time going backwards and forward at the same place.
Moskeizer 04 - Maartje will again get to work, she draws a
animated over. To be continued.

singing. It turns out a boat with the Amsterdam Student Choir.
Maartje goes out with her camera and films the reflection of the
choir in the ditch on her doorstep. The film goes through up to wetransfer
Moscow.
Keizermos 02 - Bravo.
During this time in Moscow, Anna is a piano concert in Moscow. Since shooting is forbidden, she can only film the applause and mixes the sound to the video shot by Maartje. The film goes back to Amsterdam.
Keizermos 03 - Narcissus.
Maartje mixes images of a film in which she herself in water
mirrored image and mixes filmed by Bravo - movie.
Keizermos 04 - Next Stop: Triumph Square.
Anna is in the subway and arrives at the next stop: the Triumph Square.
They find it very appropriate for a Narcissus - film, so make a
recording of the notice board of the stop. She mixes the uptake by the
Narcissus - film, in the end, and sends the film back.
Keizermos 05 - Mystery Train
Maartje see a little later, waiting on the platform of the train of
Haarlem to Amsterdam, on its iPhone this film appear on the blog,
and filming the oncoming train. They used loud narrow view of this Recording
and the film turns into a dream trip from the Netherlands to Moscow.

Anna Antonova en Maartje Jaquet hebben elkaar leren kennen via een eerdere video -
uitwisselingsopdracht Rusland – Nederland en zijn (hoewel ze van
verschillende generaties zijn) een soort zielsverwanten. Allebei werken ze
vooral met fotografie en video, met gevonden materiaal. Intuïtie, toeval en associatie spelen een grote rol. Hun werk is op een bepaalde manier surrealistisch, terwijl ze toch alleen maar de werkelijkheid laten zien.
Toen ze na kennismaking elkaars werk bekeken, bleek dat ze onafhankelijk
van elkaar bijna identieke films hadden gemaakt. Na de eerste samenwerking
heeft Anna Maartje in Amsterdam opgezocht en ook als personen klikt het
tussen hen. Ze werden meteen enthousiast om in de toekomst nog meer samen
te werken.
Uitwisselingsproject – een ‘cadavre exquis’ op video.
Idee: we maken allebei een video van een minuut.
We sturen onze video naar elkaar op via internet (wetransfer.com).
En mogen vervolgens op elkaars film ingrijpen. Door omdraaiing,
versnelling, versnelling, vertraging, toevoegen van beeld, geluid,
kleurverandering, enzovoort. En sturen de veranderde film weer terug. Een
verrassing, meer of minder aangenaam,voor de oorspronkelijk maker, die er
daarna weer mee aan de slag gaat. En weer terugstuurt. En vice versa. Net
zolang tot we samen besluiten dat de film ‘af’ is.
Keizermos (= Keizersgracht – Moskou)
Keizermos 01 – Water Music.
Maartje zit ’s avonds thuis op de bank. Ze hoort een hemels klinkend
gezang. Het blijkt een boot te zijn met het Amsterdam Studentenkoor.
Maartje gaat naar buiten met haar camera en filmt de reflectie van het
koor in de gracht voor haar deur. De film gaat via wetransfer op naar
Moskou.
Keizermos 02 – Bravo.
Anna is bij een pianoconcert in Moskou en filmt het applausgedeelte. Ze
mengt dit geluid door het geluid van het zingende koor. De film gaat weer
naar Amsterdam.
Keizermos 03 – Narcissus.
Maartje mengt beelden van een film waarin ze zichzelf in het water
gespiegeld heeft gefilmd en mengt dit beeld door de Bravo – film.
Keizermos 04 – Next Stop: Triumph Square.
Anna zit in de metro en komt aan bij de volgende halte: het Triomf Plein.
Ze vindt dit wel erg toepasselijk voor een Narcissus - film, dus maakt een
opname van het aankondigingsbord van de halte. Ze mengt de opname door de
Narcissus – film, aan het einde, en stuurt de film terug.
Keizermos 05 - Mystery Train
Maartje ziet even later, wachtend op het perron van de trein naar van
Haarlem naar Amsterdam, op haar iPhone deze film op het blog verschijnen,
en filmt de aankomende trein. Ze gebruikt beeld engeluid van deze opname
en verandert de film in een droomreis van Nederland naar Moskou.
Moskeizer (= Moskou - Keizersgracht):

Anna filmt op de dag dat we besluiten dit project te gaan doen de regen
vanuit haar raam, eerst druppelend, dan wordt het een hoosbui. Ook in
Amsterdam hoost het, trouwens.

Maartje krijgt deze film. Slaapt die nacht slecht. De kat komt tot twee
keer in de slaapkamer met een gevangen muis spelen, zoon Oscar wordt
wakker en wil bij pappa en mamma in het grote bed en om half vijf beginnen
de vogels met een ochtendconcert. Ze besluit om dan maar op te staan om
het geluid van de vogels op te nemen.
Dit gebruikt ze de volgende dag voor de regenfilm. Ze draait de film om:
De hoosbui stopt en eindigt in gedruppel en vogelgezang.
Moskeizer 03 – Babyfoot
Anna ontvangt de film en stuurt hem terug, ditmaal met een vertraagd beeld
van een vrouw en een man aan een tafelvoetbalspel.
Moskeizer 04 – Maartje gaat er weer mee aan de slag, ze tekent er een
animatiefilm overheen. Wordt vervolgd.

synchronicity
Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events, that are apparently causally unrelated or unlikely to occur together by chance, that are observed to occur together in a meaningful manner. The concept of synchronicity was first described by Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung in the 1920s.
The concept does not question, or compete with, the notion of causality. Instead, it maintains that just as events may be grouped by cause, they may also be grouped by their meaning. Since meaning is a complex mental construction, subject to conscious and unconscious influence, not every correlation in the grouping of events by meaning needs to have an explanation in terms of cause and effect.

What about water and boats as a starting point?
or it can be something abstract, I was thinking of shooting my rrrrrrrocket from different angles
Do you have any ideas?
there is one technical detail... I couldn't install final cut on my computer
so there are two options, I can do it in Premiere (Have you got it?)
or try to get a permission to use the Rodchenko School's lab, but I'm not sure to get it
because they will be on vacation and I'm not a student anymore :)
I'll keep on thinking of a theme!

dear anna,
how are you doing?
would you like to / be able to spend some of your time, to, just for the fun of it, work on another exchange project with me, in which we will be wetransferring each other a oneminute movie, and then we add changes to each others work in final cut pro, for instance by addin / changing sound, layers, whatever? then send them back, we can change again, a bit like a cadavre exquis video project?
jos houweling asked me if we would like to do that, just to have some extra stuff to show to the groninger museum, different from our other two, related but separate works...
it's unpaid and nothing is certain whether anything will come out of it
but, we might just do it for ourselves?
